6.0 Context

Overview
Chapter 6 takes the reader “off the grid,” introducing them to historical experimental and expressive print-based layouts spearheaded by designers such as April Greiman and David Carson, as well as artists who collage, deconstruct, and use other methods both off and online. The modules provide technical underpinnings for such experiments in web pages, explaining CSS positioning, web forms, and how to use Javascript to change content and affect user experience in the browser.

This work was presented on and offline, where the unique frame counts of each found GIF file made the whole composition feel alive and more present than most things we view on the flat screens used to access the internet.
